Biosafety and biosecurity
This course aims to provide an overview of the effects of chemical, physical, and biological agents on human health and the environment. It starts with an introductory module on biology and anatomy to give students a basic understanding of human cell components and their organization into systems. Subsequently, the course covers major toxic agents encountered throughout history (i.e. wars and/or accidents), categorizing them as chemical, biological, or physical, and also explaining detection and measurement methods. By the course's conclusion, participants will emerge equipped with the knowledge and skills to assess, mitigate, and detect potential hazards, ensuring a safer future for both human health and the environment.
