Cell therapies in hematology: from bench to bedside
During this course, students will learn
about the applications of cell therapies in the most common hematologic
malignancies. The course begins with an introductory section on
hematopoiesis and on the fundamental mechanisms of the immune system
functions. Various immunotherapy strategies – and specifically therapies
based on CAR T cells - are detailed. The biological basis and the
manufacturing process of CAR T cells are explained. Finally, clinical
applications of CAR T-cell therapy in hematology are presented, in the
setting of lymphoma, myeloma, and acute and chronic leukemias.
